My name is Aaran, I use they/them pronouns. I am an artist, designer, curator, facilitator, and creative practitioner working at the intersection of queerness, race, identity, social justice, and community engagement.

My creative practice explores how narratives, histories, stories, and spaces can be (re)created, (re)claimed, and (re)imagined through the lens of intersectional experiences and identities. This is rooted in my own lived experience as a Queer, Nonbinary, South Asian person. My work draws on both collective and personal identities to create connective experiences through creativity.

My approach is multi-disciplinary, I don’t restrict myself to one way of working, as all experiences and humans are different, my work aims to reflect this. I work with bold visual art, illustration, installation art, and community based exhibition design/curation and workshop facilitation. My work is process-led and collaborative and I create work that centers community connections and engagement.

A core aspect of my work is my belief that Queer and Trans people, particularly Queer and Trans People of Colour are constantly rewriting what it means to exist, live and thrive. These perspectives on what a queer future could be are beautifully transcendent, liberating and envision decolonial systems of existing in the world.
