AARAN CYAN
artist, designer, creative FACILITATOR, MURALS, community, cities.
Aaran Sian (they/them) is a interdisciplinary artist, designer, curator and eternal dreamer working at the intersections of visual art and community to envision a Trans, Queer and Decolonial future.
Queer Brown Stories is a mural for and by the LGBTQIA+ community in Camden, curated by Dhaga.
The mural was informed by creative workshops we facilitated with the community. We then created nine distinct billboards displayed at the Camley Street Underpass.
As part of Camden Market’s 50th anniversary, I was one of four artists commissioned to create a mural capturing the market’s creative spirit. My piece drew from the stories of the market, personifying them to highlight how it is the people who have crafted and cultivated Camden Market into what it is today.
WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN HERE: Villiers Revealed
‘We Have Always Been Here: Villiers Revealed'‘ is a collaborative project and exhibition exploring non-western queer histories and gender fluidity. Through collective collage, poetry, and illustration.
Created through workshops with LGBTQIA+ communities, the project carves out space for queer voices and stories to claim their space amongst historical narratives of queerness.
